PrescribeWellness Adds StarWellness Med Sync Certification and Central Sync Services to Its Industry-leading Suite of Med Synchronization Services
New Capabilities Better Connect Pharmacies and Patients, Improving Prescription Drug Compliance, STAR Ratings and Pharmacy Workflow
IRVINE, Calif.—July 13, 2017—PrescribeWellness, the cloud-based services company that inspires collaboration for better health, today announced the launch of Central Sync. With Central Sync, PrescribeWellness reaches out to both pharmacies and patients to identify, recruit, enroll and sustain the most critical patients in StarWellness Med Sync who impact adherence measures.
StarWellness is the official Medication Synchronization Technology of the National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA) Simplify My Meds™ program for community pharmacies. This technology has been successfully adopted by thousands of community pharmacies nationwide.
New payment models require a patient-centric approach. Scheduling patients for medication pick-up on an electronic calendar and automatically reminding them of their pick-up day is the foundation of patient care and reinforces the pharmacist-patient relationship that supports lasting behavior change.
Pharmacists nationwide recognize the need to implement Med Sync at their pharmacies but often struggle to get started. Educating and training staff, recruiting patients and changing workflow are difficult, given other pressures. StarWellness Med Sync Certification and Central Sync have been released to address these challenges and help pharmacies quickly and easily adopt this important process.
StarWellness Med Sync Certification is an online training course. Focused on motivators and responsibilities for the entire pharmacy staff, the training is designed to help pharmacy staff implement technology-based Med Sync at their pharmacies. Available to all StarWellness customers who complete the Med Sync Certification, this service uses PrescribeWellness pharmacies and technicians to identify the pharmacy’s top 25 patient candidates who would benefit most from Med Sync and calls on behalf of the pharmacy to enroll the patient in Med Sync. Once the pharmacy has gauged the receptiveness of their patients, the internal staff takes over and continues to identify, recruit, enroll and sustain patients in Med Sync.
More About Med Sync and the StarWellness Med Sync Solution
Implementing StarWellness Med Sync in community pharmacies delivers improved health outcomes and greater convenience by enabling pharmacies to fill patient prescriptions and “sync” all of them for a single, convenient pick-up day each month. The process of aligning medications to a single fill day for pick-up or delivery has been proven to increase adherence and patient loyalty and streamline pharmacy workflows. By targeting maintenance medication patients that are below CMS-adherence thresholds, community pharmacies have found that 96 percent of these patients achieve 5 Star levels within the first six months of enrollment.
“By participating in Central Sync, PrescribeWellness is primed to support pharmacies by increasing time for clinical interventions, as well as mitigating DIR fees,” said Poonam Gandhi, PharmD, Associate Director of Pharmacy Operations for PrescribeWellness. “What’s more, Central Sync has been shown to increase medication adherence, improve Star Ratings and optimize the pharmacy refill workflow, improving business operations for pharmacies while enhancing patient care – providing a win-win.”
